Maria Anna, introduce yourself briefly.
My name is Maria Anna, nickname Mary, I'm from Grossarl, 35 years old and an absolute mountain lover. I spend every free minute with my dog Rio in the beautiful Grossarl mountains. I've been part of the Moar Gut team for a good year now and recently became head of the housekeeping department.
What do you particularly like about your work?
Every day brings a new challenge and it never gets boring. I really love my job because of the cooperation with my team and the respectful way we treat each other. The Moar Gut is also simply beautiful and it's great to be able to use the areas privately too. You feel like part of the family here, go on outings together and are very much appreciated by colleagues and bosses.
What is particularly important to you? What makes you special?
I am a positive person by nature and always approach new situations with a good feeling. It's important to me that you see the bright side of things and don't paint everything black from the start. With kindness and mutual respect, you can achieve so much together. True to the motto “As you shout into the forest, so it comes back!”. Helping and supporting each other is a matter of course for me. I'm not the type of person who likes to set the tone and tell people what to do with a stern face. Instead, I want to master all daily tasks together with my team in a polite and friendly manner.
How do you spend your free time? What is your balance to work?
I spend my free time in the mountains with my dog “Rio”, a Samoyed. Whether it's mountaineering, a ski tour or (ice) climbing. The mountains are my home! If the weather isn't playing ball, you can often find me at the Moar Gut fitness studio.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
The different nationalities and languages in my team are certainly a challenge. But conversely, they also offer many opportunities. I get to know new characters, personalities and values in the team, which always inspires me personally. The housekeeping team consists of 15 employees from 6 different countries. From Transylvania to Thailand and Hüttschlag. Everyone is welcome here!
What are the benefits of your job?
You are constantly on the move, which I particularly like about my job in housekeeping because of my urge to move. We also start our working day early in the morning, which leaves plenty of time for family and leisure after work. We also have mothers in our team who work part-time in the mornings and spend time with their families in the afternoons. I particularly like this balance of work and leisure time here at Moar Gut.
Can you take us on a typical day in housekeeping?
We start the working day together at 06.00 a.m. and clean the public areas, from reception, restaurant, children's courtyard to the spa area. At 08.00 a.m. we have breakfast together to gather strength for the day. This also gives us time for a little small talk and to get to know each other better as a team. After a short team meeting, we go to the suites to clean. At lunchtime, we all meet up again, have lunch together and then get going again before we finish our working day at 3.00 pm.
