Host Elisabeth Kendlbacher reveals the details in an interview.
Moar Gut stands for sustainability in all areas, including construction. Was this considered when planning the new small animal farm?
Only natural and regional materials and woods (we chose larch wood) are used. The planting of the park-like area of the small-animal farm is also designed authentically. For example, there are naturally overgrown fences.
What changes will be made to the existing small-animal farm?
The area will double in size. The existing small animal farm will be integrated, the individual enclosures significantly enlarged. Keeping animals in a species-appropriate manner with as much exercise and retreat opportunities for the animals as possible is our top priority.
What was your vision for the planning and idea?
Above all, we would like to offer children the opportunity to come into touch with the various animals in the easiest possible way. To learn how to treat animals with respect, to be able to observe and caress them - we want to make all this possible for children at Moar Gut.
Are there new animal species at Moar Gut?
In fact, two more species of animals are finding a new home at Moar Gut. Two white alpacas are already looking forward to being petted by our younger and older guests. In addition, we can also look forward to geese from the end of May.
What additional special features will be created for children and parents?
We are creating places of rest and strength in the middle of the new small-animal farm for parents and children. Comfortable swings and benches invite you to linger and observe. Speaking of observing: from the climbing rosehips in the nature playground, the animals can be viewed with telescopes.
Which animals already live at the Moar Gut farm?
Small animal-farm: chickens, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs. New from June 2022: alpacas and geese.
Farm: cows and calves (in high summer on the Moar Gut Alm)
Riding stable: 16 horses, including 13 Icelandic horses and donkey Benjamin.
How are the children involved with the animals during their vacation?
Our adopt-an-animal program allows each family to choose a sponsored animal upon arrival. During their stay, the family will receive.
- A sign next to the chosen animal with the name of the family and the name of the kids
- A feeding bag and a short briefing from one of the child-care professionals
- Plenty of time with the adopted animal, which can be loved, petted, and pampered at any time
- The sponsorship of animals is rewarded with a family certificate at the end of the holiday
