- 500 g wheat flour (or spelt flour)
- 1 sachet of dry yeast
- 100 g organic vegetable margarine
- 200 ml plant-based drink of your choice (oat, soy, ...)
- 50 g applesauce (unsweetened)
- 50 ml maple syrup
- 1 vanilla pod (seeds)
- Grated zest of one organic lemon
- A handful of raisins
- Sliced almonds to sprinkle on top
- Mix the flour with the dry yeast in a large bowl.
- Heat 200 ml vegetable drink and melt the margarine in it. Allow to cool slightly, then add to the flour along with the apple puree, maple syrup, vanilla pulp and lemon zest
- Knead into a smooth dough using the dough hook on a hand mixer and then with your hands.
- Cover the dough and leave to rise in a warm place for approx. 1 hour.
- Add the raisins and knead the dough again thoroughly with your hands.
- Divide the dough into three portions and shape into long rolls, then plait into a plait and leave to rise again for 30 minutes at room temperature on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Preheat the oven (175°C fan oven)
- Brush the Easter plait with approx. 2 tbsp plant drink, sprinkle with sliced almonds and press down. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
